DHCP is an acronym for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol.

A protocol to automatically assign IP addresses to PCs in the same network.


DHTML is an acronym for Dynamic Hypertext Markup Language. 

A combination of HTML, Javascript and CSS usage in a web page.


DNS is an acronym for Domain Name System. 

A system to convert names to IP addresses. Computers do not understand names; they only understand IP addresses to locate a website or a server. DNS servers are used to convert these names to IP addresses.

Domain Name

A unique name to identify an Internet site. People cannot remember long numbers but they remember names. To make remembering easy, domain names are created. You can register a name and assign it to your website for an annual fee. An example of a domain name is RapidVector.com or JctWeb.com. You see it is easier to remember JctWeb.com than remembering the resulting IP address

DSL is an acronym for Digital Subscription Line.

Moving data through copper phone lines. Local phone companies provide internet services using this method. A DSL line can carry up to 1.45 mbps of data.
